As part of the national Open Access strategy of swissuniversities and the action plan based on it, the Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries has been negotiating with the publisher Oxford University Press OUP since 2019.
The goal is a transformative Read & Publish agreement that allows authors of participating institutions to publish Open Access as well as gives a comprehensive Read Access to all OUP journals. The HSG-Library is part of the Consortium as well as these negotiations.
No Deal: it has no been possible to reach an agreement with OUP for 2022 that meets the guidelines of swissuniversities. OUP is not willig to back down from excessive demands.
Therefore, the Consortium has decided to suspend negotiations with OUP until further notice. In return, OUP has deactivated Read Access to new content from 2022.
What does this mean for members of HSG?
- The HSG-Library licenses access to 200 journals from the OUP HSS Collection
(History, Law, Linguistics and Literary Studies, Musicology, Sociology, Theology and Religious Studies)
- Currently, there is no full-text access to paywalled articles from these journals published in 2022 that we license exclusively from OUP
- Licensed content from 2021 and before is not affected: it can still be accessed as usual
What to do if you need access to new content 2022 from one of these journals?
If all of the above should fail: please contact and we will check if there are other alternatives available.
